Last week, for the first time ever, I competed in the UK Coffee Roasting Championship. It was a big step for me, pushing myself way out of my comfort zone to do something that I never thought was achievable. It takes a lot of preparation, passion & nerve to compete in a competition of this magnitude, and I'm super proud of myself for taking the leap and committing to it fully.
From start to finish, those three days were the best experience of my life. Competing alongside, learning from and becoming pals with an amazing group of people is something I'll never forget. I feel so blessed to be part of this industry, and to be given opportunities like this, especially when I've only been roasting for a year. To finish 6th in amongst competition this fierce has blown my mind and I can't wait to do it all again next year!
Before I sign off, I'd just like to say a huge congratulations to the winners, Diana Johnston (1st), Stephen Houston (2nd) & Aaron Torres (3rd). A huge congratulations to all of the other competitors for an amazing performance. I'd also like to thank the SCA UK and Pharmacy Coffee Roasters for organising an amazing event.
