Introducing Our Latest Colombian Coffee

  • 1 min read

It’s always exciting when new coffees arrive at the roastery and there’s always excitement when we get to taste those first sips of the first roast.

For this release we worked with our import partners Cofinet to source an incredible Honey Processed Colombian. For the past 80 years, Cofinet has been a family run business that not only grew, but also distributed to local exporters. In 2015 they expanded their operations and began producing, sourcing and exporting the finest Colombian coffee to the global market.

This coffee was produced by smallholders in the rural areas in Aponte, Nariño. Most of the coffee growers that Cofinet work with belong to an indigenous reserve called Aponte. Cofinet work with approximately 200 coffee growers from different associations across this region.

Coffee farmers who are part of this Regional Plus program started creating Honey processed coffees in 2018. Since then they have achieved great success with this method due to the low volume of coffee they process in this way. Additionally, the weather conditions are perfect for processing Honeys which results in complex and delicate cup profiles.

This microlot is 100% Caturra. This variety originated in Minas Gerais, Brazil and is a natural mutation of Red Bourbon. Caturra as a variety produce such higher yields than Bourbon and is also more resistant to plant disease.

Now you know everything you need to know about this superb new coffee, but what does it taste like? Expect a super sweet, delicate cup, with notes of red apple,  treacle & blood orange.

The perfect cosy autumnal coffee.
