Manual pour-overs are wonderful, but let’s be honest: they do demand your attention! Get your pour technique slightly off or let the paper filter slip, and suddenly you’re dealing with channeling, bypass, and a cup that doesn't quite hit the high notes you were expecting.
That’s exactly why we’re so excited to add the Kode FB45 Coffee Brewer to our shelves.

Swiss Engineering Meets Specialty Coffee
Designed in Thun, Switzerland, by coffee pros Gordon Howell, Philipp Bernhard and Damara Pascale, the FB45 takes the guesswork out of manual pour-over brewing. It’s a clever bit of Swiss engineering created to unlock a sweeter, cleaner, and far more consistent cup of coffee at home with zero fuss.
Instead of fighting against inconsistent pours, the FB45 lets its clever internal geometry do the heavy lifting.
Here’s why the team at Dear Green is so impressed with it:
| The specially engineered base receptors guide the brewed coffee through with controlled aeration. The result? It pulls out vibrant fruit notes, balanced acidity, and a silky body that makes our single origins sing. |
|
| An intentional internal ridge holds your paper filter in the exact right shape for every single brew. This stops water from sneaking around the edges, forcing it straight through the coffee grounds where it belongs. |
|
| No more channeling: The three-zone extraction geometry keeps your coffee bed stable and evenly saturated. That means fewer bitter, uneven cups and far more reliable morning brews. |
|
Built to last: It’s crafted from hard-wearing, food-safe materials built for daily kitchen counter duty.
Fits standard filters: It works seamlessly with standard 185 and 45 size wave filter papers. (And yes, we stock the Kalita 185 filter papers right here at Dear Green, so you’re ready to brew straight away.)

How the Kode came to be:
The Kode FB45 wasn't born in a design studio; it was forged in the high-stakes world of international coffee competitions.
Developed in Thun, Switzerland, by coffee pros Gordon and Philipp, the brewer was engineered to solve the elephant in the room that pour-over cone-shaped brewers have harboured for decades: bypass.
Traditional drippers often let water slip uselessly down the side walls without touching the ground coffee bed, leaving you with an unpredictable mix of over-extracted channels and under-extracted washouts.
As a former UK Brewers Cup Champion and World Coffee in Good Spirits finalist, Gordon set out to build an analytical tool that would eliminate that mechanical guesswork.
Together with precision Swiss engineers, they spent years experimenting with thermodynamics and hydraulic flow.

The result is a brewer built from the ground up to standardise extraction dynamics. By combining low-thermal-conductivity materials with a clever internal geometry that seals the paper tight against the wall, the FB45 forces water straight, perpendicular through the coffee bed rather than letting it sneak around the edges.
It’s a genuine bit of engineering wizardry designed to unlock a sweeter, cleaner, and remarkably consistent cup at home with zero fuss. (Because life’s too short to mess up your morning coffee.)
Simple Brewing, Better Cups
We love coffee gear that removes barriers between people and delicious coffee. Simply swap out your standard brewer for the Kode FB45, pour your water, and let the design handle the extraction balance for you.
Whether you’ve been brewing pour-overs for years or you’re just starting your specialty coffee journey, the Kode FB45 makes getting a balanced, sweet cup effortless.
What the Dear Green team says:
We absolutely LOVE the KODE brewer! We've been playing around with various brew recipes in the roastery, and it's an absolute game changer.
For such a simple approach, there's a lot of thought gone into this design in terms of technical know-how, considerations for simplicity in brewing, sensory results, and, of course, aesthetics; it's a beaut!
The well-considered design has brew strength maximised, with minimum fuss, less coffee, and always resulting in a sweeter and cleaner brew; it's just ridiculously good.
We're so excited that Dear Green are working with Gordon Howell and the KODE team as launch partners, and we're delighted to share the KODE brewer with our customers first.
This is for anyone who loves filter coffee, loves brewing, and loves cutting-edge technical design - go get one!!
