Meet The Team - Ruairí - Production Roaster

 

 

What’s your name and where are you from? 

I'm Ruairí, and I'm from London.

What does a day at Dear Green look like for you?

My days are mostly split into production roasting and quality control. We take a sample from every single roast and cup weekly to ensure everything is up to scratch, and identify any areas where our roasts could be improved. 

What's your favourite way to brew? 

Aeropress is my daily go-to. It's super straight-forward and reliable, and I always bring it along whenever I'm camping.

Your favourite Dear Green coffee?

Rwanda KCRS is my favourite daily driver, but right now I'm really enjoying Costa Rica La Lajas from our showcase range for something extra special. 

What do you like most about working for a B Corporation? 

Knowing that the work we do doesn't happen in isolation and being conscious of wider impacts.

Aside from coffee, what are your passions? 

I love reading and spending hours browsing in bookshops, but I also like to hike, bike, and generally be outdoors.

If you could have coffee with anyone in the world, who would it be and why? 

I'd love to sit down for coffee with Naomi Klein. I recently finished Doppelganger, and I can't stop thinking about it. 

What’s your favourite thing about speciality coffee?

There's always more to learn and to be surprised by. 

What tracks do you listen to for some seriously good vibes? 

A good balance/strange venn diagram of weepy folk and campy pop.
