Small Cards, Big Impact: Our Latest Step Toward Sustainability
If you've been ordering from us for a while, you may have noticed a small change with your latest deliveries: we're no longer including a handwritten thank-you card!
When we first started, writing a personal note for every customer was one of our favourite parts of the process. It was our way of adding a personal touch and saying an extra thank you for supporting a small business.
As we've grown, however, we've had to look carefully at how we can continue to provide the best possible servicewhile fulfilling our environmental goals. After reaching out to gather feedback from a pool of our lovely customers, we found that the response was overwhelmingly positive in support of removing these cardswhen we explained why we were making the change.
Now that we’re rolling it out across all orders, we wanted to fill you in as to how and why we’ve made this decision.
We want toreduce paper waste
Sustainability is something we always strive to improve. While a single card could seem insignificant, over the years this adds up to a considerable amount of paperthat we know ends up being discarded shortly after opening.
By removing handwritten thank you cards from our standard packaging, we're able to reduce unnecessary paper waste and make yet another step towards lowering our overall environmental impact.
Of course, if you’re gifting a bag of beans and looking for a note to be added for the lucky recipient, then we are more than happy to do this. Just leave us a note at the checkoutwith what you want the note to say!
And we are improving efficiency
Growth is exciting, but it also means finding ways to work smarter and ensuring our processes mature alongside us. Handwriting individual notes for every order takes a significant amount of time, especially during busy periods, and this would only continue to grow as we do.
A recent project analysing our admin processes highlighted the true impact making this change could have, and just how much time we could be saving. That time can be redirected to roasting, packing and dispatching even more delicious coffee!
