Our Recommendations For Travel Coffee Cups

We at Dear Green are firm believers in the meditative benefits of brewing coffee in the comfort of your own home or at your local coffee shop. That being said, for many, a coffee on the go can provide that much-needed boost to your commute, pre-workout, or simply as you brave our busy world on the weekend.

In such scenarios, you might want to take a quick sip before popping it in your bag, and drink the rest when circumstances allow. Obviously, a paper and plastic cup from your coffee shop or a cup and saucer from home aren’t going to cut it on such occassions - not unless you’ve got a leakproof bag and you don’t mind having a cup of coffee sloshing around amongst your other belongings - rather unlikely, we’d say!

Which is why we think it’s time you considered getting a new reusable cup. While the whole point of a reusable cup is to hold onto it as long as possible, cups can get lost or leak over time due to general wear and tear. Thankfully, we’re living in a bit of a golden age of reusable cups; there are more brands than ever wanting to get in on the action, so which should you choose?

In this blog, we’ll take a look at some of the very best reusable coffee cups on the market right now so you can caffeinate on the go with confidence.

Ocean Bottle Brew Flask

First on our list is the
Ocean Bottle Brew Flask. We don’t know about you, but with some reusable cups, the tiny little spout can be more of a hindrance than a help. With the Ocean Bottle Brew Flask, you can sip from any angle, just as you would with a traditional coffee cup, while making a positive impact on our planet’s precious oceans.

Crucially, however, its lockable lid means you can safely pop it in your bag for later use without the worry of any mishaps, especially since it can keep hot drinks hot for 6 hours, and cold drinks cold for 18.

Stainless steel and dishwasher safe, its inherent security and hygiene make this bottle a top choice among our team, which is why we stock a Dear Green branded version in two different colours!

Reuseable Circular&Co Cup

Next up is theReusable Circular&Co Cup. At Dear Green, we aim to bring ourselves as close as possible to a circular economy. What we love about this particular cup is that, in addition to being reusable, the outer layer is made from recycled single-use cups and is fully recyclable in its own right.

With a leak-proof lid that allows for 360° sipping, the cup also has a locking feature for absolute peace of mind on your travels.

In hand, the cup, which comes in three different colour configurations, is lightweight, but still sturdy enough to handle being jostled around amongst your bag’s other bits and bobs or even being dropped to the floor.

KeepCup offers a range of travel-friendly coffee cup options, featuring leakproof screw-lids, dishwasher-safe construction, and more colours than you can shake a stick at! Check them out for yourself.

Yeti

For the more adventure-prone coffee drinkers among us, only the very toughest reusable cups will do. One of the most popular options for campers, hikers and general off-the-beaten-trackers is theYeti Rambler Stackable Cup

Stackable, cup-holder friendly, and easy to clean in the dishwasher thanks to its wide rim, the removable MagSlider™ lid also helps to prevent splashing when you’re drinking on bumpier terrain; after all, the only thing worse than coffee on your clothes is coffee up your nose!

However, one slight drawback is the construction, with some users highlighting that the mug is prone to leaking, so it may not be appropriate for absent-minded placement in your bag when still filled with liquid.

Chilly’s

Finally, we come to another big-hitter of the reusable cup and bottle world - Chilly’s. As synonymous with reusable cups as Hoover is to vacuum cleaners, their coffee cups are always in the conversation when deciding on the ideal option for your needs.

A lot of what makes Chilly’s cups so appealing is their wider range of aesthetics. Available in a range of colours and with an undeniably space-age design, these cups win a lot of points for sleekness. The cups also feel great in hand, with a rubber bottom that dampens the distinct metallic clang that these cups are often known for.

However, what they hold in visual appeal, they lose out on in terms of their practicality. Based on personal experience, prone to leakage, we’d hesitate to recommend anything other than strict verticality with a full cup.

These cups are also not suitable for dishwashing, and due to the narrow spout and open/close system, they can be tricky to clean without meticulous attention paid.
