Recently, we hosted the powerhouse that is Glasgow City FC right here in the Dear Green roastery for the official photo shoot of their stunning new kit!
We welcomed three of the club's incredible first-team players, Lisa Evans, Linda Motlhalo and Emma Brownlee, into our space, trading the pitch for the coffee sacks for an afternoon.
Just like Dear Green, Glasgow City FC is proudly women-founded, women-owned, and entirely independent. GCFC is unique in modern elite British football for sustaining this independent model while rising to the top tier of the sport; furthermore, GCFC is unique in that they do not have a male counterpart team!
We were lucky enough to witness the big reveal of the team's latest kit, and we gave them free rein to pose in it all around our roastery for their official launch shoot. Meeting these phenomenal athletes and celebrating sport and community with them was an absolute pleasure; we love their passion and their energy, and it's exactly what we love to fuel. As a female-founded business, our core ethos has always been to break barriers, lift each other up, and foster true equity. That’s why, when Glasgow City reached out to us last year, we were incredibly proud to be invited to be founding members of The City Collective, Glasgow City FC’s network dedicated to championing and connecting female-founded businesses.
Introducing the Glasgow City FC x Dear Green Collaboration Coffee
To celebrate this brilliant partnership, we’ve teamed up to create an exciting product collaboration - the Glasgow City FC x Dear Green coffee!
When choosing the right coffee for this project, the connection had to run deep, so we presented coffees from women producers for a team tasting.
The winning coffee was the exceptional coffee from the KCRS Cooperative in Rwanda, a beautiful lot sourced directly from a dedicated collective of women coffee producers in the area surrounding the Kinini Washing Station in Rwanda's Northern Province.
It’s a coffee that empowers women at origin from a washing station set up by a woman, Jacquie Turner. A woman-led team in Glasgow roasts this coffee and is supporting a historic women's football club. Women lifting up women, through and through.
Expect a beautifully bright, clean, and delicious cup that tastes good and does good. We pick up flavour notes of Demera Sugar, red fruit and Rooibos tea.

You can also watch a presentation by the founder, Jacquie, about the beginnings of the KCRS group, which tells the story of the charity and the coffee washing stationset up in 2012 to support survivors of the 1994 genocide. Building schools and health posts, and establishing coffee cherry collection points on the surrounding rolling hillsides.
