La Marzocco x Dear Green: Meet The Maker event

Last week, the Dear Green Roastery transformed into a bustling hub of coffee (Cold Brew Negronis), community, and cutting-edge espresso technology. Coffee professionals, enthusiasts, and local legends gathered for an unforgettable night with our friends from La Marzocco UK.

If you missed out, or just want to relive the good vibes, here is a recap of how the night unfolded, why this partnership means so much to us, and what makes these machines the gold standard of coffee engineering.

It is hard to believe, but our relationship with La Marzocco began 14 years ago with a single Twitter (now X) message.

It all started with a Tweet

Back in 2012, we sent a tweet directly to La Marzocco HQ in Italy, asking if we could represent and sell their iconic espresso machines here in Scotland. Lorenzo Carboni replied, letting us know that La Marzocco UK was launching any day now with industry legends Paul Kelly and Mike Khan. We jumped at this opportunity, became one of their very first UK partners, and began bringing world-class Italian espresso engineering to independent coffee shops across Scotland and beyond.

Hosting this "Meet the Maker" event was not just about showcasing new coffee kit; it was a celebration of our ongoing partnership, shared love of La Marzocco design and engineering and excellence in coffee.

The star of the show was undoubtedly the machinery

We had a gorgeous timeline of espresso engineering on display, showing how far the technology has come:

The Linea Classic: To celebrate our roots, we dusted off our first-ever machine - our 1998 Linea. She’s an absolute classic and showcased the timeless design Lineas are known for. Confirming that iconic design and excellent engineering never go out of style.

The Linea PB: The first in Scotland, back in 2014 and one of the first 100 made in Florence. Our Linea PB has been the beating heart of our training space and pop-up events ever since.

The Linea Mini:What's not to love? All of the features of a Linea but smaller, portable, and an excellent option for any home or office.

Strada X Jay Grinder: A dream setup. The LMUK crew travelled up to Glasgow with some of their latest and greatest innovations. Attendees got hands-on with the pioneering Strada Xfor some pressure profiling and the high-precision Jay Grinder, diving deep into the tech that is defining the next generation of professional espresso.

Whether guests were admiring the historical facts of the original Linea Classic or pulling shots on the Strada X, the roastery was buzzing with all things La Marzocco

Pizzas, Negronis, and the Quick-Fire Quiz

No community gathering is complete without incredible food and drink. We kept the energy high with some local favourites:

Cold Brew Negronis & Beers: Our team (Alex, Stine, Soren, and Lisa) stayed busy slinging our signature Cold Brew Negronis alongside cold beers.

Supporting local: We enjoyed fresh, delicious sourdough pizzas from Nonna Said and authentic, sweet Pastel de Nata from Pasteis Lisboa.

The Quiz: To finish the evening, we hosted a legendary quick-fire coffee quiz. With 40 questions and only 5 seconds to answer each, the pressure was on! We tested our guests on everything from coffee botany to La Marzocco’s facts and famous coffee personalities (like James Hoffmann). It got highly competitive.

A Massive Thank You to Our Community

An event like this only works because of the incredible community surrounding it. We want to send a massive thank you to the LMUK Crew for making the trip, bringing the incredible kit, and sharing their expertise. To everyone who came along to share a drink, pull a shot, and celebrate with us, and to everyone who has ever bought a La Marzocco from us and still has it running like a dream machine! Thank you!
