Production Roaster Wanted! (Yes, you.)

Hey there, coffee lover!

We’re on the lookout for a passionate, detail-obsessed, green-bean-slinging, roast-curve-nailing person to join our Roastery team here at Dear Green.

This isn’t your average gig — there’s no desk, no spreadsheets (okay, maybe a few), and definitely no sitting still. You’ll be right in the heart of the action, turning beautiful green beans into jaw-droppingly delicious roasted coffee for our wholesale, retail, and direct-to-consumers customers. If you dream in roast profiles and cupping notes, you might be our kind of person.

Here’s the lowdown on what you’ll be doing:

  • Roasting coffee to meet daily production needs and maintaining quality across every single batch

  • Dialling in roast profiles and perfecting them over time

  • Caring for our trusty Probat roasters

  • Keeping our roasting space sparkling and our machines humming

  • Jumping in with the team to help with packing, dispatching, and general roastery operations

  • Supporting with hosting cuppings and tastings, sharing the magic with our team and community

  • Keeping green coffee inventory tight and tidy

  • Sipping, measuring, testing, and logging everything accurately

  • Being part of events, pop-ups, and other moments where Dear Green shines

  • Making thoughtful, climate-conscious decisions that align with our values

We’d love it if you have:

  • At least 2 years’ experience roasting specialty coffee

  • A good grasp of the specialty coffee world – and a hunger to keep progressing and learning

  • Top-notch attention to detail and repeatable results

  • The physical ability to lift, move, and stay on your feet — this is hands-on stuff!

  • A trained palate and confidence in sensory evaluation

  • Comfort with QC checks (moisture, density, colour, etc.)

  • A cool head in a fast-paced environment

  • Organisational skills that would make Marie Kondo proud

  • Self-motivation and a proactive attitude (we love a problem-solver!)

  • Passion for sustainability and doing the right thing

  • Pride in your craft and the beans you roast

  • Confidence leading tastings, demos, and chatting all things coffee

Extra brownie points (but not essential):

  • Experience with Cropster (or similar roast software)

  • Familiarity with Organic, SALSA or B Corp certifications

  • Any coffee qualifications – SCA, Q Grader, etc.

  • A full UK driving licence (bonus mobility!)

What we’ll offer:

As well as your salary;

  • Coffee. As much as you can handle!

  • Annual Leave. 29 days initially plus your birthday off too!

  • Reward and Recognition. A team profit share bonus scheme based on company performance and your personal contribution, with regular recognition along the way.

  • Wellbeing Allowance. We'll support you in looking after your health and wellbeing so you can do your best work. We contribute to the cost of fitness or personal development sessions.

  • Personal Investment. We'll invest in your personal development and give you regular feedback. Plus we encourage and support (financially) further professional qualifications.

  • Techscheme. To upgrade your own devices.

  • Cyclescheme. To make your daily commute even better.

  • Volunteer days.Opportunities to support our local community through paid volunteering days.

  • Pension. 7% contribution to a Living Pension scheme  which invests in ethical causes and your future.

  • Origin Trips. Opportunities to represent Dear Green through an educational coffee adventure.

  • Grow with us. Opportunities to develop your career in line with the growth of the company.

  • Open culture. A place where you can bring new ideas, try doing things differently and have a real impact.
