Colombia - Meseta de Popayan - Washed

Juicy, Stone Fruit, Praline

Popayan Reserve is one of Cofinet’s longest standing projects, with founders Carlos & Felipe having started sourcing from the group right back in the beginning in 2015.In collaboration with 65 smallholder around Popayan, Cofinet takes in harvested coffee cherries to the mill at Meseta de Popayan and oversee milling and quality control.

Popayan is located in the department of Cauca at 1700 metres above sea level, and the region’s topography is perfect to grow exceptional coffee. The so-calledMeseta de Popayan issheltered by the Andes mountain range which helps generate homogeneous climatic and attitudinal characteristics. The result is a balanced cup profile with floral and caramel notes.

Cofinet collaborate with approximately 65 smallholder growers who contribute to this program and with whom they are building long-term relationships. The program encourages farmers to focus on quality and based on quality assessment, Cofinet can provide up to 20% premium above the market price.

To assist with this quality, Cofinet has a team who travel and share resources such as an agronomist who works with the individual producers within the group. As well as the agronomist, producers are invited to cup with Cofinet as quite often, producers delivering to mills never taste their own coffees. This improves education and encourages producers to continue improving cup quality.

Kicks where you'll remember

I really like the flavour. Relatives tell me it's too intense, but they also think Costa is proper coffee. Though to be honest, I've loved every bag I've ordered from here - though this one leaves an impression.

Colombia - Meseta de Popayan - Washed

A very nice coffee which i prefer as an espresso rather than an americano. I usually make americano with a one-and-a-half shot of espresso (Elektra Mcal) but I find that the extra half a shot brings a little bitterness. However, as a single shot espresso it is smooth and rich; classic Columbian.

Excellent Columbian coffee

Enjoyed bean to cup Colombian coffee. No after taste and great flavour in either Americano or with milk.
Only disappointment is the high price increase in the space of two weeks ?
