Dear Green Unwrapped - Our Year In Brews

  • 3 min read
What a year we had in 2023! We shipped more coffee than ever and brought incredible specialty coffee into your homes and communities across Scotland and beyond. It's a real privilege for us to be able to do what we do, so we thank each and every one of you for allowing us to continue doing what we love, every single day!

Here's a quick roundup of some fun stats from 2023!

In 2023 we sourced coffee from 11 producing countries and even managed to visit one of them! We roasted coffee from Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Guatemala, Rwanda, Mexico, Honduras, Kenya, Uganda, Timor-Leste and Ethiopia where we visited our friends at Daye Bensa in Sidama.

From these 11 countries, we sourced  from 29 different producers in total. That's a lot of delicious coffee!

Here's a reminder of some of the coffees you may have sipped with us in 2023:

1 Brazil - Fazenda Pantano
7 Colombia - AMACA, Sierra Nevada, Decaf de Cana, Aponte, Alejandra Munoz, Luis Calderon, Yenni Esperanza
6 Peru - Granadilla, Cecanor, Cecovasa, San Fernando, Elvis Tineo Rafael, Jaen Cajamarca
2 Guatemala - Red de Mujeres, Filadelfia
3 Rwanda - Vunga, Bumbogo, KCRS
3 Ethiopia - Odaco, Duromina, Dhilgee Danche
1 Mexico - Zapoteco
2 Honduras - Fuerza La Labor, Abeja
1 Kenya - Ndimaini
1 Uganda - Bukonzo Dream
2 Timor-Leste - Eratoi Washed, Eratoi Natural
It's no surprise that this incredible Brazilian coffee hits the top spot this year. There's a reason that we work with Fazenda Pantano every year! This Pulped Natural, Yellow Bourbon, is approachable, versatile and extremely easy to brew and to drink - a real crowd pleaser! Do you want to see what all of the fuss is about? Check it out!
Our first ever blend and still our most popular to this day! Made up of 50% Brazil Fazenda Pantano, 25% Colombia AMACA & 25% Peru Jaen Cajamarca, this blend has been lighting up espresso machines across the country. With notes of sweet plum, milk chocolate and pecan, it's a must try!
The naturally processed Odaco microlot absolutely flew out this year, especially when fresh crop landed a few months back. We visited Ethiopia in February to meet the incredible producers of this stunning coffee which achieved a high score of 89/100 points no less! We've purchased from the Daye Bensa cooperative for over three years and are so honoured to continue to roast it for you into this next season. With it's ridiculously complex and fruit forward flavour profile, we're pretty happy that you love it too! Give it a try!
So the big question is, how much coffee did we roast? Well let's just say it was a lot! In fact, if you were to convert it into elephants, which is fully relatable obviously, then you'd be looking at 28!
This year, we shipped coffee to more places than ever. Supplying coffee across the UK and beyond. But some of you just couldn't get enough! We're looking at you Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester & London!
We're all big fans of music at the roastery, and to be honest, we actually expected this number to be a lot bigger. That being said, 57 days is A LOT of music! The equivalent of 82,080 minutes of listening.
And what was our top artist I hear you ask. Well that would be none other than the incredible Fleetwood Mac!

From everyone at Dear Green Coffee Roasters, we wish you a fantastic, happy and healthy New Year!

We can't wait to create more incredible coffee memories with you all in 2024! Bring it on!
