As a women-founded and owned business, Dear Green champions women at every opportunity.
Whether we’re working with women producers, partnering with charities, supporting women in our industry, or collaborating with other women-led organisations, our experience has shown us that meaningful change requires ongoing action.
The reality within our supply chain is stark: women make up around 70% of labour on coffee farms, yet only 20–30% of those farms are women-owned. Women are still too often excluded from decision-making processes and face significant barriers to accessing education, resources, and financial independence.
As a women-led coffee roaster, we believe in actively recognising and elevating women across our industry. From producers to local baristas, café owners, roasters, technicians, green buyers, and importers. During Women’s History Month, but also beyond it.
On 7th March 2026, we brought that commitment to life.
Local photographer and former barista Marilena Vlachopoulou captured our International Women’s Day cupping event, bringing together women in coffee from across Scotland to taste coffees produced by women. It was a space to connect, reflect, and celebrate the talent and impact of women throughout the supply chain.
Here’s how it went:
Thanks to Anna, Stine, Charlotte, Lisa, Kate, Abbie, Cat, Océane, Sammie, Stacey and Marilena for a perfect evening of community and collaboration.
To Patricia Coelo (Brazil), Francisca Chacón (Costa Rica), and the women of ASMUCAFE (Colombia), KCRS (Rwanda), and Priory Farm (Kenya) cooperatives, thank you for the great coffee we cupped.
