I’m Alex and I’m from the beautiful seaside town of Troon!
What does a day at Dear Green look like for you?
Drinking coffee and packing orders. As I’ve just started, I’m learning how the roastery functions and all the systems in place, I’m just trying to absorb as much information as possible and ask loads of questions!
What's your favourite way to brew? Do you have any brewing tips?
My tip would be to keep it simple! I use Aeropress because you can get a consistently good brew with little time or effort. Experimenting with overly fancy brew methods can be fun but for a daily driver, Aeropress is so easy for at home or on the go.
Your favourite Dear Green coffee?
Right now, Guatemala Red de Mujeres :)
What do you like most about working for a B Corporation?
Working with people who care as much about our impact on others and the planet, as they do about coffee standards.
Aside from coffee, what are your passions?
I like to run and play chess. Also eating healthily and sustainably, there’s nothing more important than food!
If you could have coffee with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
My friend Grant. He has good chat.
What's something everyone should know about Dear Green?
It’s a team full of hard working, dedicated people!
What’s your favourite thing about specialty coffee?
It’s an industry that is developing towards a culture of conscientious people, who care about every part of the supply chain, from the ground the coffee plants grow and the people who harvest the cherries, to the people who drink the end product.
What tracks do you listen to for some seriously good vibes?
Beethoven’s moonlight sonata 1st movement always gets me going.
