Meet The Team: Martha, Sustainability Coordinator

  • 2 min read

We’ve been growing our team again! We're delighted to introduce you to Martha who has been tasked with measuring and reducing our environmental impact!

Interested in joining our passionate coffee crew? Drop us an email. Read more about Dear Green and follow our antics on Instagram.

What’s your name and where are you from?

Martha, I’m from Germany but have lived in Glasgow for over 4 years now.

What does a day at Dear Green look like for you?

I joined the team at the beginning of January 2023, my day at DG usually starts with some coffee (surprise!). But overall I look at Dear Green’s environmental footprint and waste management in order to bring emissions down and become circular.

What's your favourite way to brew? Do you have any brewing tips?

I brew filter at home and drink it with oat milk usually. I am not an expert in coffee, but what I can recommend is using a stainless steel filter to reduce filter paper waste. Also, did you know that you can use your coffee grounds as plant fertiliser ;)

Your favourite Dear Green coffee?

Ethiopia Odaco at the moment!

What do you like most about working for a B Corporation?

Working with people that share the same values and want to make an impact.

Aside from coffee, what are your passions?

Climate justice and intersectional environmentalism and I play some accordion.

If you could have coffee with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?

Naomi Klein, activist and inspiring woman who has novel ideas on environmentalism and marketing+business and doesn’t shy away from calling out people in power

What's something everyone should know about Dear Green?

You can buy your coffee from the roastery, just drop by and say hello and save postage ;)

What’s your favourite thing about specialty coffee?

Learning about the fine tuning of flavours, so nerdy I love it

What tracks do you listen to for some seriously good vibes?

German Hip Hop, Brazilian Bossa, Italo Schlager and Glasgow Indie or Electronic Experimental and so much more but all good vibes for sure! <3
